Mt Roskill Grammar Hockey Turf
At teamturf we pride ourselves on unique and innovative solutions for our clients, this hockey turf renewal was our most challenging project since we commenced trading in 2006! What looked like a simple uplift of the old turf/shockpad and install a new one, turned into an exceptionally difficult project that required many changes in design in order to deliver a fantastic new water turf for Mt Roskill Grammar and the local hockey community.
The challenge was to build a hockey turf over an area of 6,000sqm that has a creek running directly along the line of halfway. This created major construction challenges as the existing bridge over the creek was not strong enough to handle our construction machinery, forcing us to build the turf in two halves. The under strength bridge did not allow us to lay asphalt over this area forcing us to laser screed concrete over the bridge, followed by paving the asphalt up against the concrete to a maximum tolerance of 3mm. Strapping irrigation lines to the underside of the bridge and designing a drainage system based around the creek flow during flood events. Large trees on the Western boundary also required hand digging around tree roots during the construction of the fence and root barrier at this end of the turf.
The end result is a fantastic new wet turf, flooding lighting to average 500LUX, new dugouts, warm up turf and additional carparking. Thanks to our fantastic sub-contractors who helped us deliver this amazing new facility.
