South Wellington Intermediate School

After a damaging fire resulting a non-complying playground, this renovation of the old playground at South Wellington Intermediate School was much needed!! Starting with the upgrading of a number of playground fixtures, the big job of replacing the failing wet pour surfacing started. Timber edges and trip hazards were removed to allow the machinery to get amongst the play equipment and start removing the rubber wet pour and underlying loose fill. Following the removal and disposal of the shredded rubber, we loaded in new basecourse to start shaping the contours for the new playground surfacing.

After levelling and compacting the new basecourse, we were ready to lay the 35mm Proplay shockpad over the entire area providing the base to achieve between 2.2m and 3.1m critical fall height to meet the NZ playground safety standard 5282:2015. The finishing touch was our commercial grade Ivory Spine surface and sand infill, what a fantastic transformation and a great new playground for the kids at SWIS.
